Sounds like a great spectacle. Interesting that you suggest establishing a clear baseline for tips - it might actually be worth encouraging wildly varying payouts, so that the players have to learn (and spread rumours about) who pays out for what. That Lord Fotherington tips highly for drinks orders, but sees glass clearing as an unpaid duty, while Major Brown is a fraud who only ever tips bottle tops for anything.

And although unstated, it'd be good if "due servility and respect" included "not carrying around armloads of stuff". If I've worked out that Lady Agatha pays well for dusting, then I might as well carry around the duster for the whole game - unless the other aristocrats would vocally disapprove of me serving their drinks while trailing a yellow duster and other junk. --Kevan (talk) 2009-08-16 19:27:41

Ah, genius. One of the reasons I put down the 'clear baseline' suggestion was that I didn't want clever players to all work out the most generous actor and follow them about for the whole game. Of course, now that I think about it, the game concept itself prevents this - actors might be allowed (encouraged, expected!) to have inconsistent behaviour, and at the very least would tell overly persistent players to jolly well disappear, what?

The second point is good as well - it prevents all the props from being farmed by some extraordinarily large-handed player; another concern. I'll add both suggestions into the text. --NickHoward (talk) 2009-08-17 04:06:53
