The Soho Stag Hunt, played as the finale of the Soho Project ARG, 2007.

Ludocity is a collection of pervasive games, street games and new sports - forms of play that interact with the environment in which they take place, spilling out into parks and city streets.

Some of the games on Ludocity overlap with theatre, painting, dance, and other art forms. Some of them use balloons, lumps of coal, huge sheets of paper, mp3 players, elaborate costumes, and short-range radio broadcasts. All of them have been released under a creative commons licence, giving everyone permission to run that game for free, wherever and whenever they like.

Ludocity went live in July 2008, in reaction to this year's Hide and Seek festival - we're still building the lower floors, but you're welcome to browse around and help out.

Finding games

If you're looking for a game to pick up and play, take your pick from our playable games list, all of which have been run successfully before.

If you find a game you like, you're free to run it (with whatever modifications you like) - the only requirements of the creative commons licence are that you credit the game's inventor (by whatever name is given on the game page), and that you don't make any money from it (if you want to run the game as part of a paid event, you'll need to check with the game's creator first).

If you want to explore works in progress, or maybe help a designer out by playtesting a game that hasn't been run yet, the list of games contains every single game that's been submitted to the site.

Organising games

This is an aspect of the site that we'll be scaling up over time - for now, if you'd like to try and arrange a game of something in your city, leave a note on the game calendar and see if anyone bites.

There's also a list of recurring events, and a guide to running a night of pervasive games.

Adding games

If you've got a game you'd like to submit to the site - either an old one that you've played a lot, or a new one that you're working on - take a look at Help:Creating a game to find out what to do.

Talking about games

Each of the games has a "discussion" link under its title, for feedback, questions, player reports and general discussion.

Talking about Ludocity

There's a list of things we're planning on adding to Ludocity. If you want to talk about things that should be changed or added, perhaps you could add a comment to its discussion page?
